Welcome!

From Jack Hollick, President of the MSSRA:

The 2007 Squash season is underway. On October 10 to 15, the Merritt Athletic Club at Bare Hills hosted a very successful and exciting  $25,000 PSA and Amateur Event. On October 18, The Maryland club kicks off its season with the 5th Annual $30,000 Maryland Club Open, a professional doubles and Pro-Am event. The Baltimore Country Club PSA and Amateur event is planned for November. You can go to our web site to find out when and where the seasons MSSRA and club tournaments will be played. Access our web site and inquire at your club. The schedules have been made. What's important is you sign up to play.

Congratulations to Lefika Ragontse. Lefika is the Pro at The Bare Hills Club. He is building a very exciting squash program for juniors and adults. I suggest you stop by to say hello. We also want to welcome The Maryland Athletic Club and Wellness Center at Harbor East into the Squash community. Anna Minkowski is the part-time pro. MAC has extended an invitation to the MSSRA membership to visit the facility and schedule a match. Again, see our web page for details.

We are very proud to announce that URBAN SQUASH is coming to Baltimore in the form of BALTIMORE SQUASHWISE. SquashWise is a non profit after school youth enrichment program serving urban middle school students in Baltimore City. Charlie Wise heads a program that combines squash instruction, academic tutoring and community service to empower under-served youths to excel academically, athletically and in life. This program has received national certification.

I would like to thank the Maryland Club, the Baltimore Country Club and the Meadow Mill Athletic Club for there continued support of the game and there commitment to the MSSRA. Without there support the MSSRA would not exist.  Thank you for you support.

Before I sign off I would like to encourage all of you to get involved with the MSSRA. We need your help to continue this organization for years to come. We have positions currently open that need to be filled. We need your thoughts, suggestions and ideas how to make the MSSRA a better organization and how we can best serve our membership and the great game of Squash We meet monthly at Meadow Mill. The schedule is posted on our web site. Plan to join us. Bring a friend.

If  you're not a member of the MSSRA I would like to invite you to become a member. As a new member you automatically become a member of the US SQUASH the national governing body for the sport of men and women's Squash.

The mission of the MSSRA is to insure a unified and responsive organization that develops and promotes the sport by providing services to its members and programs to inspire participation while preserving the integrity of the game. We cannot live up to our mission statement without your help and support.

Your membership in the MSSRA/US SQUASH signifies your support of the sport and our efforts to focus on our mission.

If you have any questions about the MSSRA and our membership program you can call
